Defendant Tyler McPhillips, a supposed rapist must pay survivor/plaintiff Kelsey Kribs $1,911,471.80 in damages, including $1 million in exemplary (punitive) damages, according to Parker.

While criminal sexual assault charges against McPhillips were still pending in Travis County, Kribs filed her civil suit in April 2018.

He pled guilty to wrongful restraint, a third-degree crime, and got five years of probation; he is not needed to be supervised as a sex offender following a court-ordered examination.

McPhillips grew belligerent after drinking on Sixth Street, and the two intended to share a hotel room with her pals. Kribs accompanied him to her car, where he listened to music in the hopes of calming him down. 

She claims that while inside the Jeep, McPhillips tried to kiss her and became violent; when she refused his attempts and sought to leave, he grabbed her and raped her in the backseat.
