Why Is Leslie Roberts Leaving CTV?


After working three years with CTV, Leslie Roberts is rumored to be leaving the network by some people on the Internet.

Roberts, a former award-winning Toronto news anchor who resigned from Global Television Toronto due to conflict-of-interest charges, will join CTV Morning Live in Ottawa as a new co-host.

Roberts formerly served as an anchor and executive editor for Global in Toronto for 15 years. Roberts resigned in 2015 after the Toronto Star examined claims of conflict of interest against him.

Leslie went on to work in TV newsrooms in New York City and Toronto over the years. Leslie conducted a regular radio talk show in Montreal before joining CTV Ottawa in June to co-host "CTV Morning Live."

Tommy Schnurmacher, a long-time CJAD personality, began semi-retirement and then hosted the one-hour "Gang of Four" weekdays at noon for a time until being replaced by Roberts.

Where Is Leslie Roberts Going Next?

Although the rumors of Leslie Robert's exit from CTV are not confirmed yet, people already want to know where is going next.

Leslie is still to make clear his decision and provide an official statement regarding his current situation with CTV and his next steps in the future after he leaves the network.

On the other hand, the CTV official site has recently updated the information on Roberts with some additional descriptions of his achievements and experience.

CanWest's Toronto branch hired Roberts to co-anchor the station's dinner-time news show with Beverly Thomson in September 2001.

In addition to his News Hour duties, Roberts co-hosted the national edition of Global and Shaw Media's The Morning Show with Liza Fromer in 2013.

Roberts was nominated for the Gemini Award/Canadian Screen Awards for Canada's Best News Anchor in 2011 and 2013. While hosting Focus Ontario, Roberts won two CSAs.

What Happened To Leslie Roberts? 

Leslie Roberts made headlines when he announced that he was joining CTV in 2019, and now he is again rumored to exit this network.

From 2001 to 2015, Roberts served as Global Toronto's executive editor and anchor, hosting the station's News Hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and co-anchoring Global and Shaw Media's The Morning Show from 2013 to 2015.

He also held his radio discussion program on CFRB in Toronto, was a daily contributor to AM640 Toronto, and wrote his column in the National Post called "The Five Things I Learned This Week."

The Global Television Network approached him in the year 2000. He was the news director as well as senior anchor at Global Quebec until a position on the anchor desk in Toronto was offered to him.
