Joanna Williams, Livingston's longtime girlfriend, is said to be his wife. Joanna, a Puerto Rican, Italian, and African origin model, is affectionately referred to as Joey by her close friends.

Shaun Livingston was born in the city of Peoria in the state of Illinois. In 1999 and 2000, he guided Concordia Lutheran Grade School to LSA state crowns.

Livingston spent two years in high school playing competitive basketball at Richwoods High School before transferring to Peoria Central High School, where he led his team to back-to-back Class AA state titles in 2003 and 2004.

He was named Illinois Mr. Basketball in 2004 and represented the United States in the McDonald's All-American Game.
