Who Are NFL Draft Chad Muma Parents? Meet Father Ty Muma And Grandfather Rick Desmarais

Chad Muma is the son of Ty Muma, a former Wyoming Cowboy who lettered for the team in 1990 and 1991. He has, however, kept his mother's identity a secret.

Muma turned down offers from Colorado State, Hawaii, and Nevada to play collegiate football at Wyoming, where his father had previously played. His father stayed out of the recruitment process because he wanted his kid to make the decision.

Muma grew raised in the Colorado town of Lone Tree. When he was in seventh grade, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Muma went to Legend High School and started out as a defensive back.

Despite missing half of Legend's games due to a torn patella, he was selected second-team Class 5A All-State as a senior after ending the season with 77 tackles and 8 tackles for loss.

Rick Desmarais, his maternal grandfather, was a fullback at the University of Washington from 1961 to 1963 and led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns in 1962. There are no specifics about whether he has any siblings or not.

Muma's career highlights include appearing in all 12 of Wyoming's games as a freshman, largely on special teams.

During his sophomore season, he began to get substantial playing time on defense and concluded the year with 51 total tackles. He was awarded first-team All-Mountain West Conference as a junior after leading the Cowboys with 72 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and three sacks.

Muma was selected as a finalist for the Butkus Award and was invited to play in the 2022 Senior Bowl.
