Writer: What Illness Does Clive Barker Have?

Barker went into a coma for many days in 2012 after contracting toxic shock syndrome, which was caused by a spill of dangerous bacteria into his bloodstream.

He decided to put his own concerns about the world and civilization into the next novel Deep Hill, which he thought would be his final book, after realizing he might only have a little time to live.

He had serious throat polyps, and a doctor informed him he was only breathing 10% of the air he needed.

He's undergone two surgeries to get rid of them, and he claims his voice has improved as a result.

Although he is critical of organized religion, he has stated that the Bible has an impact on his work and spirituality.
