Konstantin Yaroshenko is swapped with a former US marine, Trevor Reed.
The deal was made on April 27, as confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Reed was sentenced to a Russian prison in 2020 after allegedly assaulting two Russian police officers in 2019.
However, the 30-year-old had maintained his innocence and didn't accept any charges. His case was called "the theater of the absurd" by the Americans.
The Texan has returned home, back to his family after three years in Russian detention.
