Chance Karnes was a Herrin Highs School 2020 graduate reportedly killed in a car accident. He was a passionate youngster who was fond of horse riding.

The 20-year-old Karnes was a former Tiger quarterback. Nonetheless, he was a brother of HHS Class of 2022 member Presli Karnes.

The obituary on Facebook read, "We are saddened to report the death of Chance Karnes, a 2020 graduate of Herring High School. He was killed in an auto accident while returning from a wedding."

As Herrin Independent reported on Facebook, Chance Karnes' cause of death in a car accident. He was returning from a wedding when the tragedy occurred.

Karnes' friend Gina McCarthy wrote, "It is so unfair. I don't understand life, and I don't think I ever will. I'll cherish all of our memories and laughs for the rest of my life. Rest easy. I'll miss you forever."

A former football coach a Herrin High School, Dwayne Summers, expresses his pain on this tragic news and writes, "I have always thought of you as the son I never had. I will always remember the good times and never forget you, Chance Karnes! Rest in peace my son."

Chance Karnes was 20 years of age, born to Jason and Brandi Karnes on 13 May 2002. He had just celebrated his 20th birth anniversary the day before the tragic accident.

Brandi Karnes shared Chance Karnes' photo on her Facebook page Saturday evenings, expressing pain on the sudden death of her son.

Edye Smith Crouse changed his Facebook profile image to one of Chance Karnes and wrote a heartful tribute that read, "You are forever in our hearts, cowboy, and will be missed at every horse show we ride."

It further read, "Always an extremely nice young man. My heart is broken for your family, but I know you are in God's hands. Go ride high on that mountain until we get too short together again."
