Shirley Burkovich's death news was confirmed by the official Facebook page of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League Players Association on 31st March 2022.

It read, "With great sadness, we share the news of the death of AADPBL player, Shirley Burkovich. Shirley passed away earlier today in Rancho Mirage, CA."

It is with great sadness, we share the news of the death of Shirley Burkovich, who passed away earlier today. Shirley played in the AAGPBL from 1949-1951 (Muskegon Lassies, Chicago Colleens, Springfield Sallies and Rockford). She was also in A League of Their Own during the end.

From 1949 to 1951, Shirley Burkovich performed for four different teams namely Muskegon Lassies, Springfield Sallies, Rockford Peaches, and Chicago Colleens.

So far now, the deceased family hasn't released an obituary explaining her death cause and date for the funeral. She,89, was found dead at her home in Rancho Mirage, California.

Shirley Burkovich's Fans and friends pay tribute on social media. Baseball Canada through their official Twitter handle express the pain. It wrote, "a tremendous loss to baseball community, Baseball Canada would like to extend condolences to the loved ones of Shirley Burkovich."

Ava Benach wrote, "I learned so much from Shirley Burkovich who competed in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League Players Association. She was kind and gentle and warm to all our players. Rest in power Shirley."

As of now, there is no news of Shirley Burkovich's illness. Following the news of her demise, most fans suspect that the former baseball player suffered from a fatal disease.
