Stephanie Russell, 52, allegedly contacted someone she thought she was hiring to kill her ex-husband on May 15, 2022, according to court filings.
An FBI undercover employee was the person she contacted to assassinate her ex-husband (UCE).
Russell is imprisoned in an Oldham County federal prison. On Friday, she appeared in front of a US Magistrate Judge in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky for the first time.

Louisville Pediatrician Arrested And Charged With Murder On Hire
Stephanie Russell, a Louisville medical doctor was charged with using interstate commerce facilities in the crime of Murder-for-Hire on May 19, 2022.
Russell allegedly agreed to pay a contract killer $7,000 in exchange for the murder of her ex-husband, who was actually an undercover FBI agent.
On May 18, police say she dropped $3,500 in a dropbox outside her Norton Commons medical office as part of the payment.
Russell is said to have agreed to pay the remaining half once the murder had been done.
On May 19, she was arrested and charged with murder-for-hire. Russell faces a potential sentence of ten years in federal prison if convicted.

Dr. Stephanie Russell has been accused of attempting to hire someone to assassinate her ex-husband.
She faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison if convicted at trial. In the federal system, there is no such thing as parole.
After considering the US Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory criteria, a federal district court judge will impose any sentence.
Russell's ex-husband filed for divorce in 2018 and the divorce was finalized in 2020, according to court records. Prior to her arrest, the two were engaging in a custody battle.
Stephanie appeared in court for the first time and on May 24, she will have a preliminary detention hearing. Her news has also been spreading on social media.
