Lori Duniver is Devan and Dylan Duniver's mother. Lori and her two children live in an apartment in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
The children had returned after a week at their father's house in Cambridge, Ohio, on June 27, 1998.

Devan and Dylan went out to play around 11:30 a.m. Devan was nowhere to be seen when Lori went to get the kids at 1:50 p.m. that day.
She remembers seeing Anthony, then a 12-year-old, and their neighbor, a few minutes later.
He came around the corner and told Lori he was on his way home from school.
Lori later handed Anthony $5 to help with the search after Anthony stated he hadn't seen Devan.
Lori eventually contacted the authorities and reported her daughter missing on June 27.
Devan's body was discovered the next day in a forested location about 150 feet from his residence. She had been stabbed in the neck multiple times.

Devan Duniver Murder Case Update - How Did She Died?
Devan died as a result of seven stab wounds to the neck, one of which cut her carotid artery.
Devan Duniver was born in Guernsey County, Ohio, in October 1992. She was living in an apartment in New Philadelphia, Ohio, with her mother, Lori, and brother, Dylan, at the time of the incident.
The five-year-old went out to play on June 27, 1998, but she was nowhere to be seen by 2 p.m.
Three members of the search party looking to find five-year-old Devan Duniver in 1998 told they believe that there are elements surrounding Devan's death that are troubling.

Lori began looking for her daughter but was unsuccessful. Lori reported Devan missing to the authorities around 8 p.m. that night.
Devan's body was discovered in the woods behind the apartment building the next day at about 2:30 PM.
Her clothing and hair were soaked from the dense foliage.
Who Killed Devan Duniver?
Authorities recognized Anthony Harris, a 12-year-old boy who lived in Devan's apartment two weeks after Devan's body was discovered
He first supported Lori in the search, but the police were cautious of him because of his previous threat against Devan.
Anthony and his mother, Cynthia Harris, went to the police station for a voice stress test after that.
One of the investigators sat down with Anthony before the exam, while Cynthia watched from another room.
The purpose of the interview was to establish a rapport between Anthony and the investigator.
Throughout the session, however, Anthony was repeatedly accused of murdering Devan.
He initially denied any involvement in the crime, but then admitted stabbing her in the throat.
When asked how many times he had done it, Anthony said, "Probably twice."
