Leah Kate, 29, started singing as a teenager when she would often use Google to search down the producers of her favorite musicians. Then spam them with her own voice notes, or, in her words, "actually bombard them with trash."

Leah is flying since her breakout track Fuck Up the Friendship in 2020. Her new film, 10 Things I Hate About You, is a tribute to the 1999 rom-com starring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger, and it's currently in theaters.

There's a good possibility you've seen the track if you've opened TikTok in the previous several months. This isn't surprising given that it's been included in over 390,000 videos and counting.

Kate had her debut Billboard chart appearance last week, at #24 on the Emerging Artists chart. In other news, in its first tracking week, "10 Things" received 4.2 million US streams and 1,000 downloads.

The record also charted at #192 on the Billboard Global 200, marking her first entry on a songs list, according to Billboard.

Kate began making music with her brother in their home studio after being sacked from a job in New York. She diligently investigated the names of her favorite musicians' producers, wrote them voice notes, and then contacted music publishers, according to a 2020 Rolling Stone story.

Kate, whose family controls radio stations, began releasing her own songs in 2018 alongside producer Louis Schoori after years of work. Her first track, Friendship has been utilized in approximately 30,000 videos as of today.

"Friendship" has received over 50 million listens on Spotify.
