Peter Frampton has three children and has been married three times. From 1972 until 1976, Peter was married to Mary Lovett.

In 1978, Peter was sued for palimony by Penelope J. "Penny" McCall. McCall demanded half of Peter's wages during their five-year relationship.

A New York judge decided that Peter and McCall never planned to marry and never held themselves out to the public as husband and wife dismissed her complaint because to do so would be to condone adultery, and the decision set a precedent in New York.

He was married to Barbara Gold from 1983 to 1993, and they had two children, Jade and Julian. The latter co-wrote and sang on Frampton's Thank You, Mr. Churchill, song "Road to the Sun."

On January 13, 1996, Frampton married Tina Elfers, with whom he had a daughter, actress Mia Frampton, and a stepdaughter called Tiffany Wiest. On June 22, 2011, Peter filed for divorce from Elfers in Los Angeles, California, alleging irreconcilable differences.

Peter Frampton suffers from inclusion body myositis (IBM), a muscular autoimmune disorder. Despite considerable weakening and loss of function in bigger muscles, Frampton's fingers operate normally.
