In April 2012, news of Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein's romance with King Juan Carlos made international headlines.

Corinna accompanied King Juan on an elephant-hunting expedition in Botswana at the Duke of Westminster's estate.

The elephant-hunting expedition Corinna organized was paid for by Mohammed Eyad Kayali, a Saudi royal family advisor who, like zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, was listed as the head of 15 offshore entities in the 2016 Panama Papers.

Who Is Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein?

Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein is a Danish entrepreneur of German origin who was born on January 28, 1964.

In Frankfurt, Germany, Corinna was born to Ingrid Sauer, a German mother, and Finn Bnning Larsen, a Danish father. Wittgenstein's father, born in 1920 in Ballerup, Denmark, was the European Director of Varig, Brazil's national airline, from 1961 until 1991.

Wittgenstein is a naturalized Danish citizen. Wittgenstein was born in Frankfurt, reared in Rio de Janeiro, and graduated from the University of Geneva in 1987.

Corinna began her career at L'Oréal before going to Compagnie Générale des Eaux, where she worked in public relations.

Corinna created Apollonia Associates, a consulting firm that helps corporations and governments, in 2006. Wittgenstein moved to Monaco and became an advisor to Princess Charlene.

Albert II, Prince of Monaco, named Wittgenstein as the principality's worldwide trade ambassador in 2013. Wittgenstein is one of the individuals mentioned in the Paradise documents leak, published in the German publication Süddeutsche Zeitung.

King Juan Carlos Biography

King Juan Carlos is from the Spanish royal line, which served as King of Spain from November 22, 1975, until his resignation on June 19, 2014. He was born in Rome, Italy, on January 5, 1938.

Carlos' early life was shaped significantly by his father's and General Franco's political interests. After his father persuaded Franco to approve it, Carlos traveled to Spain.

Juan began his studies at San Sebastián and completed them in 1954 at Madrid's Instituto San Isidro. Juan then joined the army and completed his officer training at the Military Academy of Zaragoza from 1955 to 1957.

According to his sister Pilar, Carlosstruggled in school due to dyslexia. In his familiar group, Carlos was usually referred to as "Juan" or "Juanito." 

Carlos spent a year at the Naval School in Marn, Pontevedra, and another at the Air Force School in San Javier, Murcia, in 1957.

Carlos studied law, international political economics, and public finance at the University of Madrid from 1960 to 1961. Juan subsequently moved to the Palace of Zarzuela and began performing official duties.
