Tsuchiya competed in several national championships including the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) and Japanese Formula Three Championship. He has been a runner-up in the 2001 All Japan GT Championship.
In addition to that, Keiichi Tsuchiya finished 8th at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Honda NSX. Also, he hosted the video magazine called Best Motoring earlier in his career.
