Monica was born in Darby, Pennsylvania, the daughter of a clerk named Selma and a courthouse officer named Robert J. Horan. Monica attended Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School for Girls in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and graduated in 1980.
